NYFA is launching a new program offering affordable workspace exclusively to NYFA-affiliated artists and organizations. NYFA is a creative environment with a staff of about thirty working artists, writers, dancers, and playwrights.
Program Benefits:
- A private workstation within the NYFA space dedicated to you
- High-speed wireless Internet access
- Meeting space available by appointment (in NYFA’s small conference room and library)
- Free scanning (black and white)
- Free printing quota of 200 pages per month (discounted printing fee for larger printing projects)
- Discounted rate for copying
- Fully equipped kitchen with hot coffee, tea, and filtered water
- Individual phone service available for additional fee
NYFA’s space: NYFA’s offices are located at 20 Jay Street, Suite 740, Brooklyn (DUMBO), NY. The building is wheelchair accessible. NYFA’s office is 10 minutes from Manhattan and a 5 minute walk from the F train and Empire Fulton Ferry State Park. The office is air conditioned with views of the Williamsburg Bridge and the East River.
Work hours: Monday through Friday 9:30AM-5:30PM excluding certain holidays.
Eligibility: You must be a NYFA-affiliated artist or emerging organization. This includes past and current NYFA fellows, SOS, BUILD recipients, Immigrant Artist Mentors or Mentees, and/or currently sponsored artists and emerging organizations (contract fees up-to-date). Activity must be arts, literary, or culture-related, but you do NOT need to be working on the project that you received NYFA funding or sponsorship for: artists working in all genres, graphic designers, creative writers, journalists and art historians are welcome to apply.
If you're not a NYFA-affiliated artist or emerging organization but are in need of studio and/or workspace, go to Work Space Classifieds, NYFA's new directory of live/work space for visual artists in the tri-state area.
Discounted fees: NYFA is offering a rate of $200 a month or $550 for 3 months (after initial 30-day period).
Timeline: Artists are accepted into the program on an initial 30-day trial period after which NYFA may offer artists an option to renew on a monthly or quarterly cycle.
Application deadline: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There are a limited number of spaces available so artists are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Applicants will be required to conduct an in person interview.
Application process: Email completed application and CV to Maria Villafranca, Executive Assistant at mariav@nyfa.org. Two professional references are required. References must be able to speak about applicant’s professionalism, particularly in an office environment.
